Check out our round-up of the coolest items to help make fatherhood fun.
Each month we round up tech and home stuff we think will make your life a whole lot better. Whether that’s when you’re playing with the family, working from home, smartening up your house, or just for you to put on your birthday list.
This screen protector for the iPad is designed especially for those who like to use the Apple Pencil, making it easier to write and draw on your tablet. Although putting it on can be a little fiddly, like with all screen protectors (there are plenty of instructions for those who need them), using it is a breeze and you’ll find the nib of the pen reacts a lot more effectively than with the more slippery surface of a ‘naked’ tablet. It also has a sort of Kindle-style anti-glare effect, which means it’s nice on the eyes when you’re watching something rather than drawing or designing.

We’ve been using these nutritionally complete sachets for a week or so now and have found them to be a really good meal replacement if you’re on the go. The kit comes with a cup/shaker too, so it’s just about adding water. We were a little reluctant to give them a go at the beginning, for fear of them not tasting like Vanilla Cream, or Chocolate Swirl as they’re advertised (there’s also a strawberry flavour). But if you give it a proper shake, then this is a genuinely tasty drink and does keep you feeling full. You fill in a questionnaire when you sign up and they configure the ingredients accordingly. There are lots of options, for non-dairy drinkers for instance. Definitely worth a go, especially if you’re trying to cut down on those packed lunch bills.

This app only works in particular cities, but if you’re one of the lucky ones, then this at-home car wash service is highly recommended. You book through the app and it uses nano solutions to save water – Dropless estimate they save 200 litres every wash compared to normal jet/hand wash. Courtney did our car and we got an inside and outside clean. She was lovely and did a great job – the car looked the cleanest it’s been since we owned it. Definitely beats going to the garage to do it yourself.

This water filter has been a hit in our house since we got it, especially since we live in a very hard water area. We use it a lot in the coffee pod machine, in fact, to avoid limescale. It’s the usual filter process, but there’s also a purity gauge which you can dip into the liquid to find out how pure the water is. Seeing the high readings straight out of the tap compared to the zero post-filter is a little terrifying. They mostly come quite large, so those with smaller fridges might have to make sure they can fit it in, but otherwise this is a good product (the kids will also enjoy dipping the reader into all sorts of sinks and baths!)
