More than 10 years ago workingmums.co.uk was founded by senior communications manager Gillian Nissim in 2006 after the birth of her second child. She found herself and many of her friends in a similar position, needing flexible yet challenging work, but not being able to find it. She decided to bridge the gap between those employers who were able to offer flexibility, whether that was full-time work with flexi hours or some homeworking or part-time work or any other form of flexible working, and parents who were seeking flexible positions.
Since then it the website has grown significantly, alongside a shift in how families manage home and working life. More than ever the focus is on enabling dads to be more involved with parenting by supporting them in finding flexible jobs, as well as encouraging more fathers to take Shared Parental Leave and other schemes.

Since flexible working is becoming the new norm for everyone, workingdads.co.uk of course also welcomes dads, carers and other flexible job seekers - anyone can apply for roles or seek advice on a flexible working issue irrespective of gender or parental status.
Meet the team
Gillian Nissim - Founder
A former Senior Communications Executive, Gillian has worked at a number of different organisations with very different cultures and attitudes towards family friendly working policies. After the birth of her second child she decided to set up her own company to cater for the businesses who did appreciate the vast experience and high calibre of professionals who had become parents, and wanted to find challenging and interesting jobs that offered more flexibility than traditional office-based Monday- Friday, 9-5 jobs. A graduate of Birmingham University, Gillian lives with her husband and two boys in North London.
Rachael Wenham, Head of SME & Franchise Sales
Rachael joined Workingmums in 2007 after having her second child. Prior to this she spent five years working in recruitment and four years managing a team where she was the recruiter. She has two children, a son and a daughter.
Katie Ward - Sales Director
Katie has been with workingmums.co.uk since 2009 and continually strives to develop our commercial offering and product development within our workingmums.co.uk portfolio; some of which include our Top Employer platform, Top employer Awards, networking and best practice events, roundtables, returner programmes, best practice reports and whitepapers and our Dads offering. Katie is also responsible for managing our fantastic sales team!
Katie has over 20 years experience in business development working with a variety of organisations within the public and private sectors across a range of different industries. Some of these include Banking Insurance and Finance, Technology, Retail, Engineering and Construction, Accountancy, FMCG and Rail. Katie lives in South London with her husband and two daughters.
Hazel Elms, Key Account Manager
Hazel has over 10 years experience in account management and business development within service industries including events and hospitality, and has worked with corporate clients in a variety of sectors including banking and finance, construction and engineering, retail, automotive, entertainment and sport. She joined Workingmums in June 2017, and has a son and a daughter.
Jemma Howard, Key Account Manager
Jemma joined Workingmums in 2014 as a New Business Sales Manager within our SME team. In 2017 she transitioned to Key Account Manger within our corporate team and specialises in helping cross sector organisations with their recruitment and attraction initiatives. She has two children and is based in the Midlands.
Kelly Parris, New Business Sales Manager
Kelly has 15 years experience in account management and business development within the media and technology industries. She has worked with a wide range of SME clients across sectors including travel, finance, retail, property and automotive. She joined Workingmums in February 2016, and has 2 daughters. In her spare time Kelly enjoys supporting her beloved Watford FC.
Amber Reid, Key Account Manager
Amber has been a Senior Account Manager for over ten years, working in various industries including recruitment, data, eCommerce, travel and ticketing. She joined workingmums.co.uk in 2018 and is passionate about helping organisations develop a more agile workforce and achieve their diversity goals. Her hobbies include horse riding and gardening and she lives in West Sussex with her daughter, son and husband.
WM Recruit - Recruitment Agency Division
Jo Galt, Recruitment Manager
Jo heads up WM Recruit, the recruitment arm of Working Mum's. With over 13 years experience within technology recruitment and sales, she is a responsible for managing and developing the recruitment team, driving business development and "hands on" recruitment for WM Recruit's key clients. She has four children that are 21, 19, 5 and 3.
Lauren Bush, Senior Recruitment Consultant
With a wealth of experience in IT and Technology Recruitment, Lauren manages the contract desk for WMRecruit. Specialising in the Digital Sector Lauren works with organisations who are looking for flexible, mid-senior level talent.
Marketing, Digital & Events
Jonathan Sumner, Digital Director
Jonathan previously worked in the sports management industry, working on broadcasting and advertising analysis for the ATP and PGA tour.
He subsequently moved to Vitesse Media Plc (now Bonhill Group plc) where he undertook various roles before becoming a board level director and Managing Director of digital media, building out the Company's digital portfolio from a single website to over six core digital brands.
In 2016, Jonathan stepped down as an executive director at Vitesse Media Plc and formed his own media and consultancy company. During this time he provided ongoing consultancy services to both Bonhill Group and Working Mums Ltd and has been instrumental in the further development of Bonhill's digital portfolio and product lines, as well as the relaunch of workingmums.co.uk & workingdads.co.uk website’s, whilst building on the Company's future digital strategy.
Annika Williams, Marketing Manager
Annika joined the team in 2007 after spending nine years as the marketing manager at a publicly quoted Media and Events company. A marketing masters graduate from Bedfordshire University and Leeds University Business School.
Arline Okin, Marketing Manager
A Chartered Marketer, Arline has over ten years experience working across the marketing mix, in both the public and private sector. Arline has two children and works from home.
Sarah Shotliff, Sales & Marketing Assistant
Sarah joined the team in 2017 after having her 2nd child. Sarah has extensive experience as a Personal Assistant/Administrator and has previously worked in the media, property and hospitality industries. Sarah lives in Bedfordshire with her husband and 2 children.
Claire Small, Sales & Marketing Assistant
Claire joined the team in 2018. She has worked in the administration and customer service fields since 2003, with her most recent experience being an Administrator and Receptionist within the NHS.

Mandy Garner, Editor, workingmums.co.uk
Mandy was features editor of the Times Higher Education Supplement for nearly eight years and currently divides her time between editing for workingmums, and acting as the press officer for a higher education institution. She has four children and lives in Essex. Read Mandy's blog.
James Millar - Editor, workingdads.co.uk
James has over 20 years experience in journalism including five years as Westminster correspondent for The Sunday Post. He's co-authored two books - The Gender Agenda (JKP 2017) and Dads Don't Babysit (Ortus Press 2018) and written extensively on the issues of gender and fatherhood. He combines his work on workingdads.co.uk with freelance writing, podcasting and punditry. He lives in London with his partner and two children.
Yvonne Lim, Financial Controller
A Qualified Accountant, Yvonne has worked in a number of organisations from owner managed businesses to large blue chip PLCs, with experience working in the public healthcare sector and private retail and media sectors. Yvonne is based in Buckinghamshire with her husband and two children.
