Find out why franchising might be a good idea if you want to work flexibly, for yourself:
Clara James Tutoring have been established in 2012. Since then we have worked with over 250 children, offering exceptional tutoring to children from 5 to 16, many of whom have a specific learning difficulty. The reason we are lucky enough to have such a varied range of children we work with is because we believe a one style suits all approach doesn’t work. Therefore, we use a wide range of resources in our lessons, ranging from breaking codes to snakes and ladders. We are now franchising this unique business opportunity, offering first class, bespoke tutoring across the UK.
Originally it was predicted that this year, tutoring will be a £123 billion global industry because class sizes were getting bigger, the curriculum was harder, and more and more children were struggling to keep up with their peers.
Now parents are suddenly are having to take on the role of teacher themselves as we find ourselves in a lockdown. Many parents don’t feel competent to support their children and are looking for the support of online tutors.
Do you want 2020 to be the year where you create the work life balance that you’ve always been looking for? Imagine a life where you have the flexibility to earn as you work without the worries of being employed. You will also be making a genuine difference to those that you work with.
A Clara James Online Tutoring Franchise could offer you this, all with world class support and training that you will need.
Our systems, training and support are designed so that anyone can acquire the skills they need to become the owner of their own successful Clara James franchise business, with no previous experience required.

What people are saying about us:
“We are so pleased with how Molly is progressing her confidence is markedly growing. She loves the games; it just shows she’s learning without even realising it and we love them because she looks forward to your lessons each week. Win Win!!!”
Georgina, Thame (Parent)
“Dawn is great with my daughter, makes learning fun and they have fun without her knowing she is learning. This is what my daughter needs right now. My daughter’s confidence in her academic work has grown and she needs confidence to move forwards. It’s great to get immediate feedback from Dawn and discuss our daughter’s feedback in an open manner. I highly recommend Clara James Tutoring.”
Emma, Winslow (Parent)
“Clara James Tutoring, I cannot praise enough. I contacted Dawn as an adult who needed to reach level 2 in maths before I’d be allowed to study an access healthcare course. My maths was currently back in the primary school levels due to dyslexia and dyscalculia. She managed within two weeks to get me from these very lowest ranks of ability up to scraping my level 2, in just TWO weeks! That’s incredible! I’d tried so many other tutors and method and failed but I was met with patience and understanding of my difficulties. I will never forget just what a wonderful thing this is. I can’t praise Dawn highly enough.”
Suz, Aylesbury (Adult learner)
Hi, my name is Dawn and I founded the company in February 2012.
For the 13 years prior to this I had worked in a range of education and childcare settings, ranging from playgroups, mainstream schools & autism bases. I had worked as an NVQ assessor and owned a childminding business.
During this time, I have also studied many additional courses and done a lot of background reading on the subject of dyslexia. It is the techniques I have picked up as a student, working in such a variety of settings, as an educator and from the theory learnt in the various courses that I use to create techniques for supporting people’s learning now.
Because of my background, I am inclined to shy away from the repetitive use of worksheets and instead use of a range of hands on kinaesthetic activities, including games. This is largely because I believe if you are enjoying yourself you will relax. If you relax you are in a better mind-set to learn. Further to this if you are enjoying yourself you are more likely to want to participate and that is a huge part of the challenge to overcome.
I set the business up after my marriage collapsed. I took a job at a local optician so that I could pay the rent. I didn’t enjoy it (though I loved the people there) and wanted to do something which offered the variety and creativity that working with children had offered.
I returned to college to do a qualification that would allow me to teach adults in a classroom situation. Whilst there, a friend suggested I should have a go at tutoring.
My original thoughts were that it would offer an additional income to complement my other job. However, after 6 months, Starr Tutoring, as it was then called became my fulltime focus.
The business was built on 2 questions:
This has always been our focus as we’ve travelled from the business being just me, to a small team of amazing tutors and now in 2019 we have changed our name to Clara James Tutoring (Clara is my oldest daughter, Jamie is my lad. The logo is an angel as that is the name of my youngest daughter) as we step forward into the world of franchising and are set to grow into the number 1 tutoring organisation in the UK.
The lessons Clara James Tutoring provide are aimed to be professional but also fun and beneficial to the child, with a wide range of resources used to support learning in every lesson.
