Role Purpose

As the Global COVID Medical Director, the incumbent will be responsible for supporting the Global Medical Affairs Lead on the Covid-19 vaccines global strategic medical activities but focusing on regional implementation and needs. The Global Medical Director will lead on the implementation of real world data across COVID-19 meetings and materials and supports communication of emerging data to ensure appropriate product utilisation.

The COVID vaccine franchise is expanding rapidly. Growth of mRNA technology is likely to continue to be rapid for the next few years becoming a critical vaccine platform for the Vaccines BU. This position will be on the cutting edge for defining applications of this new technology against COVID-19 at Pfizer moving forward.



Major Duties

  • Lead on the implementation of real-world data (RWD) across global meetings and materials
  • Responsible for communicating RWD at key scientific meetings
  • In partnership with country colleagues, participates in the co-creation of Global materials for promotion in full compliance with Pfizer policy
  • Proactively collaborate in the co-creation/development and review of promotional materials with countries including participation in review committee to ensure medical and scientific information are included in a medically appropriate context
  • Partner closely with country medical colleagues to ensure alignment and execution of plans consistent with brand strategy
  • Provides medical expertise and support for commercial Advisory Boards and education programs.
  • Provides medical information on existing and emerging data in response to questions from internal and external stakeholders
  • Provides medical knowledge and support for in-line Commercial Development activities including such activities as promotional message development & product training for the salesforce
  • Supports development and execution of overall medical plan and commercial activities by ensuring medical plans support short- and long-term objectives in alignment with overall business goals

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop, and coach others, oversee, and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

Managerial

Responsible for managing resources and budgets related to specific product initiatives and programs. The colleague bears no responsibility for direct people management. However, the colleague takes on leadership roles in the management of projects and cross-functional initiatives.

Education

Preference for colleagues who have a PhD, MD, PharmD or degree of equivalent level in relevant area of pharmaceutical/clinical/biological science

Experience

  • Proven experience working in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Experience in vaccine and/or infectious disease Medical Affairs experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Deep understanding of the European health environment including its structure, policy, key members and scientific societies, preferably including knowledge of regulations for approval, reimbursement and usage of drugs
  • Experience of reviewing/approving RWD for implementation in promotional meetings and materials, and communicating RWD.
  • Ability to objectively interpret and analyse medical and scientific data
  • Ability to define and convey complex concepts
  • Strong strategic thinking and decision-making abilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Well-organized with the ability to be flexible, prioritize multiple demands
  • Demonstrated track record of high performance and producing outstanding results


Work Location Assignment: Remote
