***This is a 12 Month FTC***

Primary role purpose:

To define and implement corporate organisational development (OD) and learning and development (L&D) strategies, plans and policies which are aligned with and facilitate the delivery of Inmarsat’s strategic plan.

To provide specialist expertise to CPO colleagues and the Executive team on the development of organisational culture, performance management, leadership, employee engagement, diversity, equity and inclusiveness (DE&I) and all aspects of organisational change and development.

The scope of Organisational Development includes company-wide global programmes, specifically:

Qualifications

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develops and implements a robust and coherent organisational development strategy, based on deep understanding of Inmarsat’s external and internal context, short- and longer-term business strategic and operational plans, external trends and leading practice in OD and the HR implications and challenges arising.
  • Provides business change and organisation design expertise to support Inmarsat wide projects or business-area specific projects and programmes, liaising with the Executive Team and HRDs as relevant
  • Ensures the OD strategy is integrated with and complements the overarching Inmarsat People Strategy and therefore supports the delivery of the corporate strategy
  • Supports the design, development and delivery of the People Strategy for the entire company, working with senior leaders across the company and with HR colleagues
  • Leads the Organisational Development team, assuring the high quality of their outputs and engagement with the wider HR team and Inmarsat.
  • Ensures the delivery of key Inmarsat programmes of OD work including:
  • Designing and maintaining company-wide talent management framework, in line with company needs and best practice
  • Delivering employee engagement measurement (DE&I and general)
  • Coaching and mentoring programmes
  • Leadership development and employee development
  • Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategy and plans
  • Lead, or advise, on change management activities on projects and programmes as required:
  • Challenging through the relevant stakeholders and channels where there’s a risk that programmes are not effectively managing change
  • Developing change management capability of project delivery professionals and HR professionals
  • Analysing, communicating and mitigating the impacts of any changes through formal change management techniques (e.g. change impact analysis, change planning, communication and engagement and education)
  • Providing coaching on change management methodology
  • Partners with senior and Executive stakeholders to resolve organisational issues
  • Project Manages designated organisation development projects to deliver defined outputs, cost and quality to agreed timescales
  • Ensures activity is aligned to wider organisational development activity
  • Manages internal politics to enable successful delivery and embedding of organisational changes 

Key Interfaces:

  • Partnering with business leads and exec members to support and deliver OD projects
  • Liaising with business facing HR teams and ensuring they are involved to support the activity as required
  • Working with HRDs behind the scenes to support OD activity they are undertaking within their business areas
  • Partnering with the Internal Communications team to agree accountability for delivery of the internal communications needed to support delivery of projects
  • Working with the process excellence team where there is a process element to organisation development projects
  • Working in partnership with/ managing the delivery outputs of third party experts as part of combined OD projects/ programmes

You will have:

  • Four direct reports
  • Matrix management of project resources (e.g. from BFHR, HR CoEs, Process Excellence teams etc.)
  • Budgetary responsibility of $800k for Organisational Development budget
  • Oversight of external resources – e.g. OD MSPs, business schools, training companies

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • A broad understanding of OD-related fields with deep expertise in one or more areas (organisation design, employee engagement, learning and development, change management, culture change, business change)
  • Ability to navigate through ambiguity and propose a clear direction that people understand and buy into
  • Track record of delivery of HR-related change/ transformation projects
  • Strong facilitation experience
  • The ability to operate across a spectrum from big picture strategic planning down to the attention to detail to make sure work and insights are of high quality and accuracy
  • Proven strong project management skills
  • Experience of influencing senior stakeholders up to and including Executive team
  • Experience of coordinating inputs from multiple stakeholders and keeping overall projects on track
  • Experience at managing conflicting requests and priorities, as well as setting and delivering to realistic deadlines.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving, with the ability to translate ideas into actions and outcomes.
  • Proven ability to effectively collaborate, influence and manage a wide range of stakeholders
