The Colleague Technology Journeys team in the Chief Information Office are seeking a Senior Project Manager who is keen to dive in deep, yet keep perspective, and own the technical delivery of our Future of Work strategy. We're looking for someone to join our team who possesses innate curiosity, attention to detail, and passion for utilising technology to transform our organisation

Delivery of customer and colleague centric solutions is critical as we're laser focussed on providing a compelling experience for all colleagues in the group. We're a team that challenges existing thinking, collaborates with divisional partners and work with all parts of the business, proactively devising technical solutions to enterprise challenges and building rich relationships. As such, we're after an individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, who can efficiently work across a delivery life cycle (be it Scrum or Waterfall) to ensure software operates as engineered.

 

What will you be doing?

 

Your accountabilities will include;

  • Owning budget plans for the CTJ function, operating independently with some mentorship.

  • Taking ownership for implementing formal development frameworks in a meaningful way, while informally coaching and mentoring others throughout the organisation, concurrently investing in own personal development.

  • Preparing to co-develop a modern knowledge management system, guiding other teams towards best-practise.

  • Developing and/or delivering a plan for a specific area of responsibility by collaborating with others.

  • Setting medium term objectives and taking ownership of the team's performance management.

  • Responsibility for the definition of a significant product or service, working with the User Centred Design capability to ensure alignment with customer requirements.

  • Evolving and delivering a contingency plan for significant aspects risk management.

  • Ensuring that a portfolio of suppliers and contingency workers are delivering the required levels of service while reporting to senior colleagues.

  • Developing innovative solutions by integrating and analysing sophisticated and diverse information sources.

  • Developing tactical plans for optimisation of resources and assets being managed within a given area or department.

  • Managing the development and delivery of an element of the organisation's strategy.

  • Meeting changing requirements by developing new testing approaches and strategy for a defined range of products and/or operations.

 

About you;

Ideally you'll have experience;

  • Managing multi-million pound IT projects

  • Reporting into, and presenting to executive committees

  • Working with strategy teams (both IT architecture and business)

  • Working with and managing third parties

  • Directly managing a team of permanent and contingent workers

 

An 'Agile' demeanour is essential as you'll with work with Scrum Masters who are delivering with agile methodologies. Flexibility to operate with Waterfall (APM), Agile (SCRUM) and variances in-between is key. Our Engineering capability is rapidly moving towards a DevOps model- an understanding of this structure and associated tools would be beneficial.

***This role can be based out of our Bristol, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Halifax, Leeds or London hubs - we're mainly looking for the above skillsets. The broad base salary banding across the UK is from £70,000pa to £101,500pa. Salaries in the London area will be reflected towards the upper end of this bracket***
