This is a new type of role which we're recruiting to continue our transformation journey.

You would sit in Commercial and Business Banking Transformation Directorship within the Servicing Value Stream, who are responsible for supporting the run, maintenance and development of applications and products which support our commercial customers.

What will the role entail?

This role is new Engineering role for us to recruit as it combines skillsets from service improvement, customer service management and IT change management into a single position which will allow us to progress our Agile ways of working which capitalise on DevOps techniques and the move to cloud.

Specifically, you'll be accountable for platform application and capacity management, ensuring capacity issues are identified ahead of impact point, establishing appropriate capacity remediation backlog and oversee delivery on appropriately prioritised basis.

We know that there are some significant advantages which can be made from our future move to cloud and would like to switch to a much more proactive capacity planning model, plus take a more planned approach to our new infrastructure. You'll have technical oversight of the platforms (cloud) infrastructure upgrades and be responsible for ensuring the cloud scaleability is optimised for pace and cost. We'll be using a combination of IBM Cloud offering and Oracle Cloud.

You'll focus on service improvement activities and act as an IT customer services manager for both operations and run activities. You'll be heavily involved in helping us move from on prem to cloud based applications.

You'll be accountable for platform currency risks, remediation plans, funding submissions.

You'll pickup parts of the IT change management, helping to manage risks before they become issues, problem resolution and root cause analysis plus developing an oversight of the wider groups IT risk management.

Stakeholder management will also be key, especially with the Production Support and wider Engineering teams.

As a senior manager you will be involved in senior management forums, contribute towards senior decision making, help to manage senior stakeholders and internal customers plus take full line management for up to six people and task management of a much wider group within the Lab.

What do we need to see from applicants?

We like diversity in our office and are keen to see applications from a variety of backgrounds. As this is a senior management level role we need to see some your CV demonstrate as much of the following as possible:

  • A prior background in the field of IT service improvement.

  • Experience of supporting moves from on-prem applications and services into the cloud, specifically with large scale enterprise systems.

  • Incident and problem management experience. General IT Change Management awareness.

  • Technical skills in Websphere and a good general awareness of application monitoring tools.

  • An appreciation of enterprise scale technology strategies, architecture and infrastructure.

Other technologies we use for your reference, but not required, are: Oracle databases, Unix Redhat, Dynatrace and Urbancode.

Ideally we would like to see a background within commercial banking or financial services, however if you have large scale cloud experience and have a good awareness of commercial customer needs then we can consider that too.
