Multi-location from one of our FSA Offices (Belfast, Cardiff, Birmingham, London or York), or home based in the UK. Occasional UK travel required with the potential of overnight stays. Please be aware that this role can only be worked within the UK and not overseas.

About the job Summary

The FSA is a non-ministerial department of over 1300 people, with a big vision – to drive change in the food system so that it delivers “food we can trust”. Our primary goal is to continue to protect public health and consumers’ wider interest in food. As we have now exited the EU the FSA faces a significant period of change and activity.

Job description

For the first time in almost 50 years, the UK has control over our food laws - and it’s important that we make sure they remain as robust and effective as they have been in recent years. We face an added challenge in that so much of our regulatory activities are carried out by local authorities. Only through clear frameworks and best practice methods can we ensure that our services offer the same standard across the full breadth of the nation. The Regulatory Compliance Division’s work forms a vital part of our relationship with the local authorities, enabling us to support and guide their work in delivering these official controls.

The team is also working to deliver a modernised regulatory system that will enable the FSA to ensure customers are protected from harm and that food is exactly what it says it is. This new programme has reached the testing stage, allowing us to work alongside local authorities to explore how new policies work in real world settings.

Intelligence received by the FSA will play an integral role in the new process, allowing local authorities to react effectively to the food-related threats that can impact public health. The Senior Intelligence Officer role will build upon the usage of intelligence to inform and support local authorities, working with colleagues to further develop the process during its testing stage. Through close collaboration with colleagues across the Agency, the successful candidates will ensure the results of the pilot study can be flexibly and reliably carried across to every relevant area of our work.

Candidates should be adept at working in team environments and have a background in developing and delivering change. If you believe you would be a strong fit for this role, apply today.
