The Tannery is an Ofsted registered specialist children's home for young people who have an ASD diagnosis. The home is located in the market town of Trowbridge in Wiltshire, with easy walking access to the local town centre.

The home provides residential provision for up to 52 weeks a year and is closely linked to Farleigh FE College. Farleigh FE College is based in Frome but has other residential provisions in Shepton Mallet, Frome and Trowbridge.

The home's focus is to promote the development of individual social behaviour, independence and personal skills and offering opportunities to practise these in real life settings. The home provides a secure, warm and supportive environment for young people to grow and build self confidence. This ensures that our young people develop a positive outlook on life in a safe, nurturing, welcoming, structured and fun environment.

As a Support Worker you will be a key member of our team, providing high standards of person-centred support and care to our service users. Through a creative and caring approach, you will build good relationships with both service users and their families, supporting service users in the planning of goals and in living as independently as possible. Both personal care and participation in activities are key tasks for the role, so energy and initiative is vital.

This home offers exciting opportunities for strong, enthusiastic and highly motivated staff who have experience with young people with challenging, complex and diverse needs and who preferably have some knowledge of autistic spectrum disorders and asperger's syndrome. However experience is not essential, providing you have a willingness to learn and the compassion and patience needed to support. You must also be able to demonstrate a high degree of emotional resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

The role will require individuals to work flexibly and to undertake shift work including early shifts, late shifts and weekends.

The successful candidate will be required to transport young people to and from college, and on activities and days out.

A clean driving licence with at least 3 years driving experience is therefore essential.

It is an expectation of the role that all Support Workers will either work towards or already hold the level 3 Diploma for Children and Young Peoples Workforce.

We are happy to consider flexible shift patterns, including days, early/late shifts, and weekends - this can be discussed in more detail at interview.
