Please note this role can be based in either London or Swansea, but the successful candidate would need to be flexible to travel to either site on occasion.

Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Manager to join our HR Central Services Team to build capability and understanding of our key procurement processes across HR.

Working for our HR Finance and Procurement Lead you’ll be delivering clear guidance and embedding robust procurement approaches whilst ensuring delivery of contract procurement is within Cabinet Office controls for quality assurance and audit purpose.

You will have the opportunity to provide advice and guidance to a wide range of stakeholders across the Department for Transport and its Executive Agencies (DVLA, DVSA, MCA & VCA).
 

Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will include;

•Managing several HR Contracts including those for Travel, Venue Hire, Car Hire and Overseas Health
•Working with HR Contract Managers and Commercial Relationship Managers to ensure a well-managed pipeline of contracts
•Acting as SME and Point of Contact to HR for all things regarding Contracts
•Line management responsibilities for 1 x EO

About you
You will have previous contract management experience and a broad knowledge of commercial acumen. Along with leadership skills, you will also have the ability to manage senior stakeholders’ expectations and confidently handle negotiations and difficult conversations.
You have excellent communication skills, with ability to present professionally and persuasively to senior stakeholders. You engage effectively with a variety of stakeholders at all levels to build and maintain trusted relationships and credibility. You are extremely organised with a high level of attention to detail.

We are committed with continuous personal development and will support you with working towards the CIPS qualification once in role.

This role sits within HR Central Services which is part of HR in the Resources and Strategy Directorate of the DfT. The HR Central Services Team ensures that the necessary aspects of corporate services are delivered in order to ensure the effective operation of HR. We lead and support on all aspects of Finance, Procurement within a busy HR team, ensuring our HR colleagues are able to deliver the services they offer to both DfTc and the DfT Group.
