About the Team

About the Role
Performing a mixture of operational and development activities to support, develop and maintain Next’s systems on premise and in the cloud. You’ll use physical, virtualised and cloud platforms to deploy core Microsoft and Linux services using scripted/automated builds.
You’ll conduct proactive monitoring, ensuring the maximum uptime of the core infrastructure and provide and assist in root cause analysis, ensuring preventative measures are implemented and reports are produced for management.
Maintaining and improving operational standards will also play a part in this role, such as environmental records of Next’s eCommerce infrastructure, monitoring environments, log management amongst others.
You’ll work with 3rd party services for support and delivery of infrastructure and produce documentation to a high standard for core infrastructure (on-premise and cloud) and be proactive in knowledge transfer to other teams.

Criteria Essential
- IT experience working in a large corporate environment
- Windows 2008(R2)/2012/2016/2019 Server in both physical and virtual environments
- Microsoft failover clustering
- Monitoring business critical environments
- System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM)
- A good knowledge of network technologies and protocols such as DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, FTP and SMTP
- Able to be a part of the timely diagnosis and resolution of major issues
- Strong knowledge of storage solutions and principles
Desirable
- Experience working within an eCommerce infrastructure background
- Solid understanding of linux to support business critical systems
- Experience using load balancers such as Netscaler and Nginx
Capacity Planning - Experience with hardware from different vendors
- Experience in a 24x7 business
