Job Details

Would you like the opportunity to gain a Level 3 Business Administration qualification on the job, so you can earn whilst you learn?

Would you describe yourself as flexible, well organised and a team player, with an excellent eye for detail and accuracy?

We are looking for an enthusiastic person with excellent communication skills and an eye for detail to join our Publications Team at the Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) and we’d love to hear from you!

Job description

At the AAIB we are responsible for improving aviation safety by establishing the circumstances and causes of aircraft accidents and serious incidents in the UK and making safety recommendations.

This is an opportunity to join a high-profile organisation in an interesting post providing quality administrative support to Inspectors of Air Accidents (professional pilots, engineers, recorded data and human factors specialists) and other AAIB colleagues.

The Apprenticeship

Our exciting Apprenticeship offers you the opportunity to combine practical on the job training whilst working towards a recognised qualification. The Level 3 Business and Administration apprenticeship is usually a 15-month programme and upon completion, you will gain the equivalent of an A Level standard.

This unique opportunity will provide you with an introduction to organisational operations and functional processes, as well as the wider business environment. The responsibilities of your role will involve supporting and engaging with various parts of the organisation and interacting with both internal or external customers. With a focus on adding value, the role of business administrator contributes to the efficiency of an organisation, through support of functional areas, working across teams to resolve issues.

Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for this role and to study towards the Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship, you must:
• Be at least 16-years old.
• Have the right to work in the UK.
• Have been a resident in the UK/EA/EEA continuously for 3-years before starting the apprenticeship.
• Have left full-time education when the apprenticeship starts.
• Not be in receipt of funding for other learning programmed (including another apprenticeship).

If you currently hold or are working towards a similar qualification of the same level or higher, i.e. Business Administration Level 3, then you will not be eligible to apply for this vacancy. In order to be eligible for the apprenticeship, any qualifications previously held or currently being worked towards must differ in content so that this apprenticeship provides substantial new skills. If you apply and are found to possess any of the above, your application will not be considered and any offer of employment will be withdrawn and your contract terminated. If you are unsure on whether you will be eligible for this apprenticeship, please do contact the recruitment manager outlined on this job advert for advice.

Responsibilities

Your roles and responsibilities will include:

Providing support to the Publications and Graphics Editor

• Prepare and review reports, graphics and other content ready for publication
• Input revisions and edits from the Chief/Deputy Chief Inspectors and Inspectors
• Maintain the AAIB bulletin distribution list
• Deal with correspondence related to printing and distribution of reports

• Ensure quality assurance of AAIB reports and other content and that it meets ‘accessibility’ standards

Work with the Business Support team and other AAIB colleagues

• Assist the AAIB’s External Head of Communications as required
• Provide support to the wider Branch to broaden experience, particularly during deployments and busy periods
