Are you a highly motivated and experienced policy advisor?

Do you have experience of policy development and implementation?

If so we have an exciting opportunity for a Policy Advisor to join our team working for the Independent Commission on Civil Aviation Noise (ICCAN), and we’d love to hear from you!

Job description

As a Policy Adviser in the team, you will be integral in taking the evidence provided from data analysis and/or consultations and turning it into robust recommendations delivered in reports to the Commissioners, Government and others.

ICCAN is an independent arm’s length body, sponsored by the Department for Transport. Our aim is to improve public confidence and trust in the way aviation noise is managed. We are bringing together industry, communities and the Government to ensure best practice on noise management is followed and information is shared and communicated in an accessible way. We will aim to identify any improvements needed to industry methods of assessing and mitigating noise impacts and will give communities a greater stake on aviation noise issues. ICCAN’s success measures therefore include increasing the public’s confidence in the noise data published by the aviation industry and in the impartiality of the airspace change process; and challenging industry to enhance its approach where necessary on assessing and mitigating noise impacts and engaging communities.

For more information on ICCAN, please visit our website at:
www.iccan.gov.uk

This vacancy is open to part-time candidates up to a 0.8 FTE basis, although full time may be considered for exceptional candidates. These hours can be flexible throughout the working week which can be arranged with your line manager.

Responsibilities

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Work closely with both colleagues in ICCAN and aviation sector stakeholders to identify and make recommendations on the key challenges within the aviation noise debate
• Deliver high quality policy development based on a robust evidence base
• Collaborate with the communications team within ICCAN to interpret and communicate complex issues to a variety of audiences
• Support ICCAN’s senior management in delivering its corporate strategy
