We have an exciting new opportunity for an Associate or Senior Associate to support the Real Estate team in the Bristol office with transactional work and team management.

Our clients

We act for numerous PLC clients – often on a national, multi service line panel basis. Our list of clients is impressive and includes– Cornerstone,  Barratt, M&S, Gazeley, DTZ, M&G, PGIM, Taylor Wimpey, U&I, St Modwen and Greystar to name a few.

The team

The real estate is made up of 75 lawyers in total including 21 Partners in the UK. The team in Bristol is also made up of 2 Legal Directors, 2 Associate Directors, 10 Senior Associates, 10 Associates, 2 Trainee Solicitors and a large team of Paralegals. Michelle McGurl (Partner) leads the team.

The role

This role is critical our Real Estate Telecoms practice and in particular our support to our key client, Cornerstone.

You will work with key technical and business stakeholders to ensure the best delivery. You will also liaise directly with the client to progress all matters relating to processes and systems as well as enhancing their experience of Osborne Clarke, approximately 25% of your time will be fee earning in this role.

Other key responsibilities of the role will be as follows:

  • Supervision of the team to deliver service to Cornerstone in particular support of paragraph applications submitted by the Property Disputes team.
  • Manage client service against defined quality, cost and reporting KPIs.
  • Proactive identification of operational risks and escalation as appropriate.
  • Develop and embed projects to improve the efficiency and working practices.
  • Owner of precedent documents and amendments (also to work with wider team to feed into training), documenting quick reference material to support changes.
  • Determine and embed the training required for the team required to continue to deliver improved services.
  • Working with technical and business stakeholders alike, acting as a 'translator' to enable the delivery of any required technical / working practice changes.

Technical skills and experience

We are looking to appoint a very capable and dedicated lawyer with a genuine desire to develop their career as a property lawyer. This role provides an opportunity to progress through a well-supported career programme and is supported by cutting-edge legal technology.

You will show evidence of good quality training and commercial property law experience gained at a city, national or large regional law firm recognised for its property practice. Due to the nature of the work and structure of the team we are looking to appoint an Associate or Senior Associate in this area, although we will consider candidates with more or less experience.

The candidate

We are seeking a qualified lawyer with a proven track record of managing lawyers and delivery within a similar function in a professional services firm. A legal background is essential.

We are also looking for evidence of:

  • System, process or people management.
     
  • Ability to work collaboratively in order to work alongside the team and a broader set of stakeholders.
     
  • Proven, excellent communication skills.
     
  • A client oriented approach, both internally and externally with the ability to think laterally in relation to business opportunities and training.
     
  • An appreciation of fee earner needs and restraints.
     
  • To be commercially aware.
     
  • To be a self-starter, enthusiastic and resourceful; proactive and motivated with excellent organisational skills.
