If so, we have a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious, organised individual to join us as an Aviation Security Administrative Officer here at the Department for Transport (DfT)! Job description

The Aviation Security Strategy and Policy (ASSP) Division sits within the Aviation Directorate in the Department for Transport. The Division is responsible for the development of UK policies and strategic planning to combat the threat of terrorist attacks on civil aviation, both within the UK and overseas.

We are looking for a pro-active and hardworking officer to head up the Division’s administration, supporting policy teams to deliver the objectives as set out in the Aviation Security Strategy. This will cover finance, travel bookings, management of the archive and ad hoc administrative duties such as rooms bookings, escorting visitors, and helping ensure the smooth running of the Division. You will support a busy team that works to ensure that our airports and civil aviation are protected against terrorist attack and that travelling members of the public continue to have confidence in the system.

You will work with all three policy teams (domestic security, international security and strategy and innovation) to provide a first-class administrative support function. You will have the opportunity to provide support on interesting areas of policy which will provide the successful candidate with an excellent overview of the policy profession.

• Liaising with Divisional Finance section in order to keep accurate rolling monthly records of Divisional travel and subsistence expenditure and other financial outgoings, attending monthly meetings with Team Leader to reconcile expenditure with finance / budget reports (as / when received by the Team Leader and passed on), and contributing to reports as needed to business planning rounds and budget management activity;
• Secretariat support to Aviation Security Governance groups, circulating relevant papers to the Division and industry as needed.
