As the Finance Shared Services Lead, you would be responsible for taking the lead on the finance and procurement system and service requirements for Shared Services ensuring that MCA business and operational needs are met and governance controls are in place. This will include working in partnership with key internal and external stakeholders and suppliers to ensure the MCA's finance and procurement system is delivered to the required standard.

This role reports to the Head of Shared Services within the Directorate of Finance and will work closely with the Chief Finance Officer within the finance directorate.

Job description

• Act as the finance and procurement representative at DfT, MCA and supplier boards to ensuring MCA finance and procurement issues are escalated and prioritised appropriately and suitable solutions are agreed with all parties.

• To lead on all finance and procurement system changes including but not limited to; development and delivery of updates and communications, designing training and guidance, working closely with Change Agents across the business to ensure readiness.

• Work with all stakeholders to gain support for release functionality, priorities, timings, testing resources and acceptance criteria

• Work with relevant business areas to understand and implement future requirements ensuring they are engaged at every stage.

• Liaise with MCA finance team to co-ordinate future system, policy or process changes.

• Lead the management of the overall Shared Services change control process and future release plan from and finance perspective.

• Working closely with MCA finance team, Shared Services team and business areas to agree, plan and manage testing requirements for all releases and system upgrades from request through to full implementation.

• Plan and coordinate the delivery of all associated activities, including (but not limited to) configuration discussions, prototyping, system integration testing, user acceptance testing and performance testing

• Work with business areas to put in place temporary solutions and/ or contingencies as required

• Be responsible for the management of the finance and procurement defect tracker

• Lead on the management of the Shared Services finance budget ensuring all spend is in accordance with Government Financial guidelines.

• Carry out regular system audits to ensure compliance with finance policy and utilisation of the system functionality identifying and implementing resolutions.

• Responsible for providing finance and procurement systems updates and progress reports to MCA Boards including highlighting any issues, audit requirements or risks.

We are looking for a proactive individual who has part or full CCAB qualifications or equivalent knowledge and experience.

You are an excellent communicator, both written and verbally, and find it easy to engage with a variety of people.

Your great eye for detail helps you tailor your approach to ensure messages and information are presented to achieve the desired impact by your intended audience.

You have proven experience of programme or project management and implementing changes effectively.

Seeing the bigger picture comes naturally and you can visualise how things fit together to ensure future plans are achievable.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) is an executive agency of the United Kingdom working to prevent the loss of lives at sea and is responsible for implementing British and international maritime law and safety policy. It is also responsible for land based search and rescue helicopter operations from 2015.
