We have an awesome opportunity for a Governance Assistance Apprentice to join us at The Department of Maritime and Safety Standards (DMSS) part of the MCA the Maritime and Coastguard Agency's (MCA) and we’d love to hear from you!

We are currently in the process of an exciting period of rapid transition and want to grow our team to reflect the tenacity and ambition that our motivated leadership team has.

This is where you come in – this role is varied and fast paced, you will learn how to provide governance administration support of the UKSR Programme, using your excellent organisation skills you will coordinate meetings with key accounts and prospective customers ensuring that all information is recorded (accurately!) into the Customer Relationship Management system.

This role will help you to develop your professional skillset and give you exposure that can’t be gained outside of the civil service.

Due to the nature of the role there is likely to be travel and overnight stays in various locations throughout the UK.
 

Responsibilities

Roles and Responsibilities:
• To assist in the production of responses relating to the UK Ship Register when requests are received by DfT or through Parliamentary Questions ensuring that they are timely dealt with.
• To assist the Head of UKSR Business Management Unit (BMU) in the production of governance, sales and programme reporting each month.
• To assist in the coordination and scheduling of meetings in accordance with the agreed UKSR Stakeholder Map.
• To assist in the management of documentation required to maintain governance of the UKSR programme and provide support to the Head of Business Management Unit in the preparation of programme/governance board papers.
• Support the requirements of the UKSR programme by undertaking various activities in accordance with the plan through to implementation.
• To assist in the booking of national and international travel and hotel arrangements.
• To enter intelligence gained from customer meetings that have been undertaken into the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system ensuring that company and contact profiles are updated.
• To assist in the production of reports from the CRM system regarding sales pipelines and open leads/opportunities that require action by the Sales team.
• To undertake tasks as required by the Head of Business Management Unit.
 

About you
To be successful in this role you will need to be a confident communicator both verbal and written.
You will have good decision-making skills and have a good knowledge of IT systems such as Word and Outlook. As a team player you will enjoy working with others and sharing knowledge.

This role is best suited to someone who is looking to develop their planning, organising and time management skills and learn to work using their own initiative.
