Position Summary

The Production Facility Manager is responsible for managing a busy, in-house production facility comprising Production and Sound Control Rooms, Commentary booths and Multi-Function Rooms.  The manager is the principal on site contact for all facility production partners working as part of an organisation delivering services to the international business, ensuring the facility operates to the highest standards.

A key focus of this role is to provide account management to the production partners by understanding fully their requirements and future strategy, determining the upcoming projects and working with clients to successfully plan and execute live events.

This role will oversee the day to day management and development of the facility and staff and provide a professional contact for the production partners and includes close, effective collaboration with associated operations within the service delivery chain.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, lead and develop a team of people including facility coordination and technical crew
  • Oversee and govern the production facility with responsibility for ensuring services are delivered to the highest standards
  • Maximise staffing across productions to optimise efficiency
  • Establish regular communication and strong working relationships with key production partners within the business with a focus on future strategy and planned production throughput
  • Work collaboratively with other GT&O organisations i.e. MAM, Ingest, Engineering, MCR, Programming, OAP, Preview Team and Transmission ensuring working relationships and communication are of the highest standards
  • Identify key development opportunities for improved workflows, system development and enhanced reporting. Driving forward the system and software development needs for the facility with Engineering team, overseeing testing, implementation, and relevant training.
  • Produce detailed metrics and reporting on facility utilisation and costs
  • Manage rate card and recharging of services to production partners
  • Pro-actively promote, market and champion London Technology Hub in-house talent and the services we provide through effective marketing and PR
  • Escalation point and key contact for resolution of high priority issues for the department
  • Successfully manage the relationship between the Production Operations and the wider business globally
  • Mentor and coach direct reports
  • Develop in-house talent through the provision of comprehensive technical training
  • Actively manage POs, invoices and track additional costs
  • On behalf of Production Operations lead projects and initiatives with focus on successful delivery of projects on time and in budget
  • Manage workflow and system changes
  • Provide support to the line manager in operational and strategic decision making
  • Identify savings opportunities; promote sharing of best practice and process change opportunities to increase efficiency
  • Collate costs, resource and personnel requirements for Production Operations for input into the business planning process on request
  • Assist in Production Operations execution and implementation of new business plans, launches and initiatives.
  • Other duties as required

 

Requirements

 

  • Significant experience in facility management within broadcast and the commercial sector
  • Strong leadership and team management skills demonstrating the ability to motivate, develop and inspire a team
  • Proven track record in managing large, successful teams, delivering to the highest standards
  • An experienced account management background demonstrating the ability to successfully form and manage relationships in an international environment
  • Demonstrable marketing and business development expertise
  • Adept at working collaboratively with other service delivery internal departments
  • Pro-active in trouble-shooting, problem solving and avoidance of issues
  • Adaptable and flexible in a challenging, demanding and fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to represent Production Operations at a high level in meetings
  • Take the lead for the department in projects and initiatives, ensuring a considered and effective approach is deployed, projects are delivered on time and to budget and risks and issues highlighted
  • Ability to assimilate information from multiple sources, demonstrating strong analytical skills and with the capability to see the implications across the business and make informed decisions
  • Ability to prioritize and work autonomously under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Strong team player and solid interpersonal skills
  • Experience of budget and expense management
