ActionAid are looking to recruit four part-time Supporter Mailing Assistants on a fixed term contract basis.

ActionAid is an international charity that works with women and girls living in poverty. Our dedicated local staff are changing the world with women and girls. We are ending violence and fighting poverty so that all women, everywhere, can create the future they want.

Our Supporter Mailing Assistant roles are part of a newly created Supporter Communications Mailing Team within the UK, set up to support the shifting of supporter servicing from countries to the UK, which includes the checking and despatching of over 100,000 child messages annually to supporters.

We will look to our Supporter Mailing Assistants to process the receipt of physical child drawings, letters and photos from ActionAid’s operating countries. A key part of this will be for you to quality check the mailings for authenticity and importantly, check for any child safeguarding issues.           You will be responsible for the final matching and despatching of the communications to supporters within the agreed communication timeframe.

Within this role, the tasks assigned to you will be for you to receive and store over 100,000 pieces of child sponsorship materials annually. You will log receipt of them, order them and store them in such a way that they are easily retrieved.

Please note that this role will entail manually handling materials in boxes, which will weigh up to 14kg.

Another key part of this role will be the printing, matching, packing and despatching of the feedback pieces to agreed timelines and to ActionAid’s high standards of accuracy. We will also look to you to support the processing of other mass production communications pieces.

In order to succeed within this role, it is essential that the post holders have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build successful relationships based on mutual respect and trust, ensuring that relationships thrive under pressure.

All applicants must also have proven experience of working with a relational database, word processing and spreadsheets, including Microsoft office, email & other digital platforms.           We are keen to receive applications from those who are well organised, who have a keen eye for detail and from those who are able to work effectively alone or as part of a team.           Excellent self-motivation skills when undertaking repetitive tasks is essential.

Please note that we are looking to recruit four people into these posts; we are keen to have two team members working daily from 9am - 12.30pm and two from 1.30pm – 5.00pm.

All roles are being offered as a 12 month fixed term contract.

If you have this skill set along with a passion to work within an organisation committed to working with women and girls living in poverty to enable them to change their lives for good, we are keen to receive your application.

ActionAid is committed to driving improvement through digital channels, tools and ways of working.  We will ensure that we provide the technology and the training to enable all staff to perform their roles to the best of their abilities. In return, we ask that all staff are committed to continually improving their digital skills and knowledge within the working environment. Our recruitment processes will evaluate the digital skills of all applicants.
