Hours - Monday to Friday, 4 hours a day, ideally 10:00 to 14:30 though this is flexible

What you’ll do

The Communications, Education and Outreach Officer will support our engagement with residents, schools and community groups in Camden in order to promote effective recycling and responsible environmental behaviour. The Communications, Education and Outreach Officer will contribute towards achieving our communications and recycling targets.

As well as the routine education of, and correspondence with, members of our community, the Communications, Education and Outreach Officer will work closely with our operational managers to improve the services we offer. The Communications, Education and Outreach Officer will also research, develop and deliver campaigns and projects to promote recycling services to communities across Camden.

Our goal is a cleaner, greener Camden and we have ambitious targets to increase the quantity and quality of household recycling in the borough as well as improving the street scenes. We’re looking for someone to join our team part-time (ideally 4 hours every day) in order to help us improve our engagement and communications with residents.

The experience you will need

Essential:

  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • Administrative experience including working with databases
  • Experience with mail merge and excel as well as G-Suite (Google) 
  • Experience dealing with members of the public
  • A commitment to a more sustainable environment

Desirable:

  • Experience managing correspondence via email, phone and social media channels
  • Experience working in sustainability or with the council
  • Audio-visual skills including the ability to use InDesign or photoshop would be useful.

Where you’ll work

You’ll be working with a small friendly communications team based in central Kentish Town, supporting the work of operational managers and colleagues across Veolia and Camden Council.
