The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) are seeking a highly commercially astute financial analyst to join the Remedies, Business and Financial Analysis (RBFA) Group.

RBFA provides business and financial analysis and designs remedies for the problems identified, applying professional expertise to contribute to the CMA’s mission to make markets work well for consumers, businesses and the UK economy.

As an Assistant Director, you will be responsible for providing high quality and timely commercial and financial analysis to support key decisions. This will include working closely with economists and legal advisers in multi-disciplinary project teams to investigate, analyse and advise upon financial and business issues in merger, market, consumer, regulatory and antitrust inquiries. You will be responsible for delivering analysis that informs the CMA’s understanding of how businesses and markets are functioning and that makes an important contribution to deciding whether or not there is a competition or consumer problem. You will play a central role in designing effective solutions to the problems we find.

To be successful in your application you will need to have a first degree and/or a postgraduate business, finance or accounting qualification (e.g. ACA, CIMA, CFA or MBA) or equivalent experience, ideally alongside familiarity with economics and financial theory. You will offer significant relevant commercial and financial analytical and interpretive experience including understanding business models in different industries; generating insights from complex information and applying accounting knowledge and numeracy. Alongside this you will also need the ability to build and sustain constructive working relationships, combined with strong oral and written communication skills.

In return, the CMA offers you a rewarding, stimulating and inclusive place to work.  We champion a culture that respects your work-life balance, provide training tailored to maximise your potential, and offer genuine opportunities for career progression.
