Linden Lodge School is a leading provider of education for visually-impaired children and young people aged 2 – 19 years. We are constantly building and growing our provision and an opportunity to join our skilled and highly motivated team as a Residential Worker has become available. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is passionate about transforming young peoples’ lives and wants to develop their career in a residential school setting. You'll be working in a small team of colleagues committed to providing high quality support and education.

The residential unit has space for 24 weekly or part-time boarders (Monday to Friday). In our recent OFSTED of the residential department, Leadership and Management was judged “outstanding” (January 2019) where “leaders’ expert knowledge and steadfast commitment to children have inspired them to continue their own professional journeys”. We have an impressive three acre campus in Wimbledon offering fabulous indoor and outdoor innovative facilities to support teaching and learning.

As a Residential Worker, you'll be supporting young people with vision impairment to develop as much independence as possible in their daily lives. Everything you do will enable young people to develop self-esteem, to have choices about their own lives and develop the self-help and independence skills that will prepare them for adult life. Residential workers are required to not only provide residential shift support and oversee mealtimes or activities but also support the Management team develop this provision. You could be supporting someone with personal care, supporting with medication or arranging an evening activity of shopping followed by meal preparation.

Residential placements are designed as an integral part of each child's specific educational and social programme which takes into account their sensory impairment, physical disabilities, emotional well-being and medical needs, enabling them to develop to their full potential.

Please note, the postholder will required to possess a Diploma in Residential Childcare or an equivalent e.g. NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People.

Some sleeping-in duties will also be a requirement of the role
