We currently have part time and full-time opportunities for playscheme assistants that are available to support children with disabilities during the summer holiday for playschemes running in the Shrewsbury area. 

The playschemes provide a fun, action packed day for children with a range of different disabilities including; learning disability, physical disability, autism and challenging behaviour. The playschemes also provides a much-needed supportive break for parents and families where school holiday periods can be very demanding.

Ideally you must have some hands-on experience of working with children or young people with disabilities within an education, care or community-based setting. This work is also ideal for someone that maybe works during term time and is looking for extra work during school holiday periods.

We require workers that want to ensure that the playscheme is a fun and enjoyable experience for all the children that attend. Some elements of personal care may be required, and you must be comfortable with providing this where necessary. You must be aware of health and safety issues, be patient, have a fun personality, stamina and lots of energy to engage the young people with different activities. 

If you have a flair for music, arts or outdoor activities etc we definitely want to hear from you.

Work is available most days but as a minimum we are looking for workers that can cover at least 2 or 3 days each week during the summer holidays (up to 6 weeks)

Actual times and dates of work will be confirmed nearer the time but generally the hours of work on most days are approximately 9am – 3.30pm, weekdays.

Location: central Shrewsbury; easily accessible by car or public transport.

Activities include going on different day trips, soft play, painting, crafts, cooking, outdoor play, music, etc
