Find out why franchising might be a good idea if you want to work flexibly, for yourself:
diddi dance founder Anne-Marie has been bringing together preschool children for fun and funky dance sessions since 2003, with the franchise running since 2010. There is a real focus on excellence throughout the network, which has led to numerous award wins for service delivery and franchising best practice – including EWIF Inspirational Woman in Franchising 2019.
Anne-Marie has been a strong force in bringing standards to the sector with diddi dance being founding members of the Children’s Activity Association (CAA). The CAA Gold membership standard involves endorsement from a child psychologist following observed sessions. Franchisees also benefit from cheaper insurance with this membership.
I had been working as a dance and performing arts teacher for 12 years and although I loved my job I had become increasingly stressed and unhappy with it. After attending baby/toddler yoga classes with my son it struck me that this or a similar type of business was something I could do easily with the skills I had and that it could provide me with a much more flexible, enjoyable and rewarding way of making a living.
Not long after, my son came home from nursery with stickers on his t-shirts saying I’m a diddi dancer and I straight away began looking into exactly what diddi dance was & whether it was the business opportunity I had been waiting for. Although I considered working as a freelance dance teacher or even opening up my own dance school, I felt that a franchise with a well established brand would be a much better option for me having little previous business experience.
I started researching children’s franchises and found that diddi dance was the one that suited me best as it would allow me to continue using my skills & love of dance and it was very good value for money compared to many of the other well-know children’s franchises.
I’m now 3 years in and very happy that I made the big decision to change my career and become my own boss. It was difficult at first to get to grips with the business side of things, however, with a great support network of Head Office and the other franchisees I feel I have learnt and achieved so much.
I thoroughly enjoy running my diddi dance and I’m very proud of the business & reputation I have built in my area but a lot of this is thanks to having a fantastic product/service and trusted brand behind me to begin with so for me certainly, buying a franchise was the right decision.
