Inclusive salary from £43,403 up to £47,165 per year + Car Allowance plus up to 18.5% employer pension contribution

Post Ref: P1587

St Albans is a unique English Cathedral City with a colourful history which can be seen in the Roman remains and variety of beautiful architecture, heritage sites and conservation areas. Set within green belt, off the M25, A1M and M1, the District includes a cathedral, historic city centre and charming villages. Our offices are in the city centre near to the station (London St Pancras 20 minutes), shops and restaurants. In short, it is a great place to live and work.

The Housing Service owns and manages its own housing stock with approximately 4,800 tenants and 1,000 leaseholders. The service has recently procured an Integrated Asset Management Contract with Morgan Sindall Property Services using a 2005 TPC contract, initially for five years with options to extend.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing the mobilisation, integration and on-going management of the Councils new Reactive Repairs and Planned Maintenance Contract which includes the monitoring of KPI’s, financial monitoring and control of works orders and will be the Contractors main point of contact.

We are looking for a talented individual with strong leadership and negotiation skills, financial skills and demonstrable expertise of leading a multi-disciplinary team.

The successful applicant will have significant experience of managing contracts and be a member of RICS or CIOB or with equivalent experience. You will be managing a small team of internal housing technical staff working on repairs and void properties. Previous experience of effective performance management in a construction related area, together with partnership working to deliver major contracts, is essential.

As a local authority we strive for excellent working relationships with councillors from all political parties and aim to consult with service users in the development and provision of our services.

We offer a competitive package which includes 28 days annual leave, essential car user allowance, pension scheme, reimbursement of professional fees, management development and training opportunities. We also offer flexible working options (including some homeworking), leisure and travel discounts and a number of other benefits.

The post is subject to a Basic Disclosure Check.

For an informal discussion, please contact Amanda Grosse, Housing Asset Manager, on 01727 814695 or Joanne Turner on 01727 819386.

For full details and to apply, please visit www.stalbans.gov.uk stating your details and the post reference number.

Closing date for applications: Wednesday 26th June 2019.

You can gain a wide range of knowledge, skills and experience with us and develop to your full potential.

Many people still face the challenges  of balancing work and home life. For many of our employees today—both male and female—their daily lives involve a host of family and other personal responsibilities and interests.

The Council recognises the importance of finding this balance and offers a range of different programs and initiatives, such as flexi-time flexible working arrangements in the form of part-time, job-share, compressed hours, full and partial home working. These are available across a range of roles from administrative level to senior specialist roles.
We also have a casual register of people looking to work flexibly and when needed to provide support at peak times during the year.

This includes covering local elections, supporting key events held within the district and covering holidays and other absences.
